SET 2022 application process is underway and will end on April 24, 2022. SET 2022 is scheduled to be conducted in the computer-based test mode on May 14, 2022. The SET 2022 application forms were released on January 25, 2022, on the official website. The SET admit cards will be released on April 29, 2022. Candidates can apply for the exam by filling out the online application form.

What is SET?

Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admission to Symbiosis institutes. SET exam is a gateway for admissions to undergraduate courses such as Management, Law, Engineering, Economics, Mass Communication, Computer Studies and Liberal Arts. Earlier, the exam was also conducted for B.Sc Culinary Arts but this exam was scrapped in the year 2021 for this course. The SET 2022 application form, admit card and results will be available online only and there is no provision for an offline application process.

SET Eligibility Criteria 2022

  • The aspirant must have cleared Class 12 or equivalent examinations in relevant stream from a recognised board or university with a minimum 50% aggregate ( 45% for SC/ST category students).
  • Candidates in Class 12 or awaiting their Class 12 result are also eligible to apply but they will have to submit a passing certificate.
  • A candidate who has completed Class 12 or equivalent examination from any Foreign Board must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Reservation Criteria 

The following are the reservation rules that are followed while admitting Indian students:

SET 2022 Application Process

SET 2022 application is an online process. The SET application forms 2022 are available online on the official website of SET ( Students who wish to appear for the SET 2022 exam are required to fill out the online application form. The SET application process includes the following steps:

  • Creating a new user profile by filling out the SET registration form with details such as name, date of birth, gender, email ID and phone number, etc.
  • Uploading the required documents in the prescribed format.
  • Confirming the registration via one-time password (OTP).
  • Payment of the application fee via credit/debit card, internet banking or UPI.
  • Filling out the SET application form with the necessary details such as category, test centres, institutions, etc.
  • Paying the institute fee and taking a printout of the complete application form and payment receipt.

SET 2022 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

As mentioned above, SET is an online exam that has four sections- General English, Quantitative, General Awareness and Analytical and Logical Reasoning. There will be a total of 60 questions in the SET 2022 exam. Each question will carry one mark. Check below, highlights of SET syllabus and exam pattern:

SET Preparation 2022

Candidates planning to appear for the SET 2022 exam must start the preparation at least six months before the test date so that they get enough time to cover all the aspects of SET preparation. They must devise a preparation plan which should include:

  • Covering SET syllabus
  • Practicing mock tests and sample papers
  • Revision of important topics in the last few days before the exam

SET Exam Day Instructions

SET will be conducted in the computer-based test mode. Candidates appearing for the exam must not only be prepared for the exam but also for the exam day. Mentioned below are some of the exam day instructions that the candidates must follow:

  • Do not forget to carry the coloured printout of the SET admit card. Digital or soft copies of the admit cards will not be accepted.
  • Reach the exam centre at least an hour before the commencement of the exam.
  • Do not carry electronic gadgets or articles which are prohibited in the exam hall.
  • Carry a valid ID proof issued by the Government of India such as Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Voter ID or Passport.
  • Always wear a mask and follow the COVID-19 protocols.

SET Admission Process 2022

SET exam 2022 is a three-step process that includes application submission, SET 2022 exam and Personal Interview/Written Ability Test.

STEP 1: Fill the SET application form

The candidates have to apply for the SET exam by filling SET 2022 application form which is available online on the official website. They need to register on the SET website as new users. On successful registration, the candidates will get access to the application form. Payment of application fee of INR 1,750 has to be made online only through net banking or by credit/debit card.

STEP 2: Download SET admit card 

SET admit cards will be only be issued to registered students. Admit cards for SET will be available on April 29, 2022. The candidates can download their respective admit cards from the official website.

STEP 3: Appear for SET exam 2022

SET exam 2022 will be held on the scheduled date in computer-based test (CBT) mode in various test centres across the country. The candidates will be required to sit for the exam along with the admit cards and one identity proof (Driving license, Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Passport). Due to the prevailing coronavirus situation in the country, exam pattern and mode of examination may change.

STEP 4: Check SET result 2022

SET result 2022 will be announced on the official website. Selected candidates will be called for WAT/PI round. Each institute released its own cut-off post SET 2022 result. The candidates are advised to check individual websites.

STEP 5: Appear for SET WAT/PI

The candidate must carry all the relevant documents (original and photocopy) to the WAT/PI round. Admission will be granted on the basis of a candidate’s overall performance in SET and WAT/PI. Last year WAT was conducted on SET exam day. Candidates were provided 30 minutes for WAT.

Q: Is there any marks relaxation for the reserved category student in the SET exam?

A: Yes, candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/PwD) will get a 5 per cent relaxation of the total criteria. They will be required to have scored 45% aggregate in Class 12.

Q: How can I prepare for SET exam 2022?

A: To prepare for the SET exam, students must be well versed with the syllabus. They must practice mock tests and sample papers and keep consistency in doing so. With dedication and the right efforts, one can end up scoring really well in the exam.

Q: Can I appear for more than one course?

A: Yes, you can appear in the SET exam for more than one course but you will be required to apply for each course separately. This means that you will have to fill two separate SET application forms and pay the application fee separately.

Q: How many sections does the SET 2022 exam have?

A. The SET 2022 question paper will have four sections, i.e, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.

A. The SET exam is a national-level entrance that is conducted only once a year. This year the exam was conducted on four days, i.e. July 10 to July 13.

A. SET exam was conducted in internet-based test mode or online mode. Last year, also, the exam was conducted in the internet-based test mode because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Q: Will there be GD/PI round for admission to SIU institutes or the SET exam score is the only criteria for admission?

A: Yes, after SET results are announced, a PI round will be conducted by the seven SIU institutes accepting SET score for admission. The counseling schedule will be available on the official website of each institute. In 2021, the WAT round was conducted on the SET exam day. Candidates were given 30 minutes for WAT.

Q. Who can apply for SET exam 2022?

A. Candidates who have completed their Class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognised board with at least 50% aggregate are eligible to apply for SET exam.

Q. Is there a negative marking in the SET question paper?

A. No, there is no negative marking according to the SET exam pattern. Candidates will not be awarded any marks for incorrect answers or unanswered questions.

A. Yes, the SET application fee can be paid offline and online as well. Candidates can pay the offline through a Demand Draft. The DD should be drawn in the favour of the "Symbiosis Test Secretariat" payable at Pune.
