What is SBI PO exam?

State Bank of India (SBI) every year conducts SBI PO exam to select eligible candidates for the post of Probationary Officer. A large number of candidates apply for the exam, out of which only a few are selected depending on the number of vacancies. SBI PO is considered one of the most sought-after banking exams in the country. Successful candidates are posted as Probationary Officers in various branches of the bank. SBI PO exam comprises three phases-Prelims, Mains, and Interview (Or Interview & Group Exercises). Approximately 10 lakh candidates apply for SBI PO exam every year. SBI is a prestigious organisation that offers handsome salaries and job security to its employees as a result of which a large number of candidates rush to apply for the various exams conducted by the bank.

SBI PO Cutoff 2021

SBI PO final and mains cutoff will be released along with the final result. To check the cutoff, candidates need to enter registration number or roll number, date of birth, and verification code. There is no sectional cutoff in the exam. Candidates are only required to secure the overall aggregate cutoff marks.

SBI PO 2021 Notification

SBI PO notification was released to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Probationary Officers (PO). Along with the notification, SBI PO exam dates and other details were also made available. Candidates selected through SBI PO are posted anywhere in India. All eligible candidates were required to register online for the recruitment process. SBI follows a three-tier selection process for recruitment to the post of PO. Candidates need to clear each exam stage to get shortlisted for the next stage. Final selection is done on the basis of the mains exam and Interview (Or Interview & Group Exercises).


SBI PO Exam Analysis

The overall difficulty level of SBI PO mains exam was moderate. The Reasoning section was moderate, Data Analysis & Interpretation section was moderate to difficult, English section was easy and General Awareness section was moderate. The Descriptive paper was moderate. 

SBI PO Application Process

SBI PO Application Form was available from October 5 to October 25. The application fee for the exam was INR 750 for General/EWS/OBC categories and SC/ST/PWD categories were exempted from fee payment.

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria

SBI prescribes SBI PO eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification, nationality and age limit. The age limit prescribed for SBI PO exam is 21 and 30 years. The educational qualification prescribed for the exam is graduation.

SBI PO Recruitment Process

SBI PO selection process comprises three stages: Phase I (Preliminary), Phase II (Mains), and Phase III (Interview only or Group Exercises and Interview). All registered candidates are first required to appear for the Phase I prelims exam. On the basis of the marks in the prelims exam, candidates are called for the mains exam. Candidates qualifying the mains exam are called for the Phase III Interview only or Group Discussion and Interview.

SBI PO Exam Pattern

SBI PO exam pattern is such that it is divided into prelims, mains, and Interview only (Or Interview & Group Exercises). According to the exam pattern, the prelims exam carries 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions. SBI PO prelims exam is divided into three sections-English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude. The duration of the test is one hour with separate timings for each section. The test carries a total of 100 marks. SBI PO mains exam comprises both objective-type and subjective-type questions. The total marks allotted to the exam are 250. The duration of the test is 3.5 hours. In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the third phase of SBI PO exam comprises Interview only (50 marks) or Interview (30 marks) and Group Exercises (20 marks).

SBI PO Admit Card 2021

SBI PO 2021 admit card for interview was released for candidates who have qualified the mains exam. To download the admit card, candidates were required to enter registration number or roll number and date of birth or password.

SBI PO Salary 

The salary structure of SBI PO in terms of basic pay, payscale, and allowances is given below:

Basic Pay: The starting basic pay is INR 41,960 (With four advance increments).

Payscale: INR 36,000-1490/7-46430-1740/2-49910-1990/7-63,840 applicable to Junior Management.

Allowances: DA, HRA/Lease rental, CCA, Medical, and other allowances & perquisites as per rules.
