Psychology can be defined as the science of mind and and human behaviour. Psychology courses in India are offered at various levels i.e. Diploma courses in Psychology, Certificate courses in Psychology, Bachelor degree courses in Psychology and Postgraduate courses in Psychology. Moreover, there are many research-level courses as well as part-time or online courses in Psychology.

While, psychology is a vast subject in itself, every other course that requires studying about human anatomy and related subjects also include basic concepts of psychology in its course-curriculum. Psychology as a subject is generally included in counselling courses, physiotherapy therapeutic and other medical courses. Psychology course requires studying and understanding human brain development, consciousness, behaviour & personality and related topics.

Psychology Courses Eligibility and Entrance Exams

Eligibility for UG Psychology courses:

  • Candidates should have studied class 12th or equivalent education from state/national education board in India

  • Candidates from all streams i.e. Arts, Science or Commerce are eligible for admission to Psychology courses

  • Moreover, candidates who have completed their class 12th qualifying education from any open school board like NIOS are also eligible.

  • DIfferent colleges/Institutes for psychology courses may have their own set of eligibility criteria.

Eligibility for PG Psychology courses:

  • Candidates who have completed bachelor degree with psychology as a main subject are eligible to get admission in this course.

  • The final year papers/subjects should include psychology as a main subject for calculating aggregate marks.

  • Candidates appearing for final year examination of their bachelor degree are also eligible.

  • Candidates who have completed their graduation in psychology through distance education or from Open University are not eligible.
