JEE Main 2022 exam will be conducted by the NTA in two sessions from April 16 to 21 and May 24 to 29, 2022. JEE Main application form 2022 has been released for the April session exam. Candidates can fill the application form online using the direct link given below. The last date to fill application form for the April session is March 31. Registration for JEE Main 2022 May session will start on April 8. 

JEE Main 2022 will be conducted for admission to three courses, BE/BTech (Paper 1), BArch (Paper 2A) and BPlan (Paper 2B). The exam will be held in online mode as a Computer Based Test in 501 cities across the country and in 13 cities outside India. Questions in JEE Main Paper 1 will be asked from classes 11 and 12 topics of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For Paper 2A, questions will be asked from Mathematics, General Aptitude and Drawing while for Paper 2B questions will be from Mathematics, General Aptitude and Planning. JEE Main syllabus 2022 and exam pattern for all three papers has been released by the NTA. 

  • Only those candidates who have passed class 12th/equivalent exam in the year 2020, 2021 or appearing in 2022 can apply for JEE Main 2022.
  • There is no age limit (maximum or minimum) to apply. Candidates of any age can apply for JEE Main 2022.
  • Candidates can apply for JEE Main without any restriction of minimum percentage/marks in class 12th. Candidates need to have just passing marks in class 12 to apply.
  • Candidates can appear in both (April and May) attempts or one attempt as per their choice. In case a candidate appears in both attempts, the best score out of two attempts will be used for calculating the All India Rank.
  • To apply for Paper 1 (BTech/BE), candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one subject among Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject in class 12th.
  • To apply for Paper 2A (BArch) candidates must have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in class 12th. In order to apply for Paper 2B (BPlan), candidates must have Mathematics as a compulsory subject in class 12.

What's New in JEE Main 2022

NTA has introduced some major changes in JEE Mains 2022. Check out the new changes in the exam.

75 per cent criteria removed: NTA has removed the criteria of a minimum of 75 per cent marks in class 12. 

Number of attempts reduced: NTA has reduced the JEE Mains 2022 number of attempts to two. The exam will be held in April and May this year unlink four attempts in 2021.

No application correction facility: There will be no facility to make corrections in the filled application form. Candidates thus need to be careful while filling the details in the application form.

Negative marking in numerical value questions: Questions of section B (Numerical Value) will also have negative marking. Until 2021, negative marking was only in MCQ type questions (Section A) and there was no negative marking in numerical value questions (Section B). 

Choices of exam cities: Candidates will be able to select the choices of exam cities as per the permanent and present address filled during the registration. Only those cities which are nearby the address provided will be available for selecting the preferred exam city.

Exam duration for PwD candidates increased: Candidates belonging to the PwD category will be given 20 minutes extra time for each section in Paper 1 and Paper 2. The total time duration for PwD candidates will be four hours.

Scorecard on mobile: Candidates will receive the PDF of their final scorecard/result copy in their email IDs.

What is JEE Main?

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main), also known as JEE Main, is the exam held to shortlist candidates for admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses at the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). JEE Main also serves as the qualifying exam for the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technologies (IITs). National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the exam every year in multiple sessions. The exam is conducted in 13 languages across all the states of India and several countries outside the country.

JEE Main 2022 Application Form

The NTA has started the JEE Main registration 2022 for the April session exam. The Application forms are available online on jeemain.nta.nic.in. The process of filling JEE Main application form is online. The last date to fill the form is March 31 for the April session. The application process for the May session will start from April 8 and will be available up to May 3.

At the time of filling the application form, candidates need to upload scanned images of photos, signatures, educational certificates, and documents about reservation benefits. Candidates can check here the details about application fees, specifications of images to be uploaded and the procedure of filling JEE Main application form.

How to Fill JEE Main Application Form

Step 1- Open the official website

Step 2- Click on the “JEE Main 2022 Registration” link

Step 3- Fill in the required details and click on the “Submit” button to complete the registration

After the completion of JEE Main registration process, candidates will receive an email and message in their registered email ID and mobile phone number with details of the application form number and password. Candidates will need to keep safe/save the details of registration.

Step 4- After completion of registration, candidates will be redirected to the page of filling the detailed application form. In this step, candidates have to provide details of educational qualification, parents' details, address of communication and permanent address, and exam centre preference.

Step 5- Upload scanned images of passport size photographs and signature

Step 6- Pay the application fee

Step 7- The application form will be automatically submitted after the successful payment of application fees.

Candidates need to download the filled application form and take its printout. It is advised that candidates keep safe the print copy of the application form until the completion of the admission process.

JEE Main 2022 Eligibility Criteria

NTA has released the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2022. Candidates can check here the eligibility criteria prescribed by the NTA required for appearing in the exam. It is necessary that all candidates ensure their eligibility before applying for the exam failing which their candidature will get cancelled. Full details about the JEE Main 2022 eligibility criteria can be checked from the information brochure.

JEE Main 2022 Exam Centres

The exam cities for JEE Main 2022 have been announced. NTA has increased the total number of exam cities from 334 to 514 for JEE Mains 2022. Candidates have to fill out four choices of their preferred exam cities at the time of filling JEE Main application form. Candidates will be allotted one exam city out of the four options in which candidates have to appear in the exam. Following are a few details related to JEE Main Exam Centres 2022

  • Candidates have to select any four cities of their choice as test centre preference while applying for JEE Main 2022. NTA will allot a city out of four options.

  • The allotted exam centre/city will be mentioned on the JEE Main 2022 admit card. To check the exam city allotted to them, candidates will need their login details along with JEE Main 2022 application number and date of birth.

  • Please note that the decision of the NTA regarding the allotment of centre, date, and shift will be final. No correspondence or request will be entertained in such a case.

Admit card is essential for appearing in the exam, without which no candidate will be allowed to take the test.

JEE Main Question Papers

JEE Main Answer Key

The answer key of JEE Main 2022 will be released by the NTA within a few days of the conclusion of the exam. As the exam will be held in multiple sessions, NTA will release the answer key separately for all sessions after the exam. JEE Main 2022 answer key will be available online on the official website. Correct answers to all the questions asked in JEE Main 2022 paper will be provided in the answer key. Along with the answer key, NTA will also release a candidate response sheet. Candidates will be required to log in using their application form number and password/date of birth for checking the answer key.

The NTA will first release the provisional JEE Main answer key that will be open for challenges. Candidates having objections to any answer in the provisional JEE Main answer key can challenge it online from the official website. The NTA will review the challenges and then release the final answer key. The JEE Main final answer key is unchallengeable and is final in all respect. The result of JEE Main is calculated using the final answer key.

JEE Main Result 2022

The NTA will release JEE Main 2022 result online separately for all sessions. The final result will be declared after JEE Main session 2 exam and will have details of the candidate's All India Rank and JEE Main cut-off.

To check the JEE Main result, candidates will have to log in on the official website using their application form number and password/date of birth. Details about the percentile score of subjects and aggregate percentile score will be mentioned in the result. Candidates have to download and take a printout of their scorecard as it is required at the time of the counselling and admission process.

JEE Main Cutoff

The NTA will announce JEE Main 2022 cutoff along with the announcement of session 2 results. JEE Main cutoff is the minimum percentile score that candidates have to score to qualify for appearing in JEE Advanced. JEE Main cutoff will be different for various categories.

Candidates must note that there are NO minimum marks or cutoffs which students need to obtain for passing JEE Main exam. The score that candidates get in JEE Main decides the All India Rank and admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs is purely based on the All India Rank. JEE Main 2022 Counselling

The counselling process for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs is organised by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Candidates who will appear in JEE Main 2022 and obtain a score have to register for JoSAA counselling for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Candidates who appear in JEE Advanced also need to register for JoSAA 2022 counselling for admission to IIITs. The process of registration is done online and the allotment of seats is based on the All India Rank of candidates. Candidates can check here the participating institutes of JoSAA 2022 counselling.

JEE Main 2022 Participating Institutes

The participating institutes of JEE Main are the colleges that participate in the JoSAA counselling for admission in various Engineering, Architecture and Planning courses. Besides JEE Main participating institutes, many colleges offer admission based on the scores of JEE Main but are not a part of JoSAA. Such institutes organise their counselling process for admission. 

There are a total of 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 19 other GFTIs that participate in JoSAA counselling. The number of seats in these institutes can be checked below. Other institutes which offer admission based on JEE Main scores are from the states which do not conduct their entrance exams for engineering admission and include U.P., Bihar, M.P., Delhi, among others.

A. NTA has released the JEE Main application Form 2022 for the April session exam. The application form is available on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Q. How many attempts will candidates get in JEE Main 2022?

A. NTA will conduct JEE Mains 2022 in two attempts in April and May.

Q. What is JEE Main 2022 exam date?

A. NTA will conduct the exam in two sessions on 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 April 2022 and 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 May 2022.

A. Candidates can fill JEE Main application form online from the official website. The application form is available only in online mode.

A. NTA has released the JEE Main exam pattern 2022. As per the new pattern, numerical value questions will also have negative marking.

A. No, it is not compulsory to appear for all the sessions of JEE Mains 2022. It depends on the candidate's choice. The better the scores of all the attempts taken by the candidate will be used to prepare the merit list.

Q. What are the qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2022?

A. The qualifying marks for JEE Main 2022 exam will be announced along with the final result. The qualifying cutoff for JEE Mains 2022 consists of the minimum marks that the candidates have to secure to qualify for JEE Advanced.

Q. For how many papers will JEE Main 2022 exam be conducted?

A. JEE Main 2022 exam will be conducted for a total of 3 papers - Paper 1 for B.E./BTech, Paper 2A (B.Arch), and Paper 2B (B.Plan).

Q. When will JEE Main 2022 admit card be released?

A. The JEE Main 2022 admit card will be released on the official website. Candidates need to log in to the official website using their application number and date of birth to download admit card.

Q. Is 70 percentile enough in JEE Mains?

A. Candidates can get admission in many colleges with 70 percentile in JEE Mains depending upon the category. However, for admission in NITs and IIITs, candidates have to score high as the JEE Main cutoff remains high in these colleges.
