2D Animation

In 2D animation technique, images appear in 2 dimensional. There are basically two types of techniques used in 2D animation. First one is the traditional technique and the second is about computer-generated 2D animation photos which uses 2D software.

3D animation 

3D animation is the advanced technique of animation and has taken over the traditional technique. Computerised techniques and softwares like Max, Maya, 3D and many others are used in 3D animation process.

2D/3D Animation Courses and Eligibility Criteria

There are Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, and certification (short term and long term) courses available in 2D/3D animation. Given below are some animation courses in India.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A student can opt for certified courses soon after 10th grade.

  • Students after their 12th standard from any stream are eligible for 3D animation course. But there are institutes that offer diploma courses to students after 10th grade.

Undergraduate Courses- Bachelor courses like BA, BSc, BFA (bachelor in fine art) are three years duration course that includes various topics like visual effects (VFX), 2D and 3D-animation, fine arts etc.

Eligibility criteria for UG Courses- Aspirants with a class 12 pass certificate can apply for these courses. Along with it, candidates need to write an entrance exam carried out by the institute they wish to join.

Post-graduation Courses- Advanced PG courses like Msc, MA can also be done in animation. There are many sub-specialized subjects like illustration, modelling, texturing, visual effects, game design, 3D and graphics.

Eligibility criteria for PG Courses- Candidates must have a graduate degree in the allied subject for Masters courses. Many institutes also conducts their own exams for admission to PG courses.

First watch their work and decide what kind of work you want to do and after doing B.Sc. Botany you can do animation higher studies but you should have good drawing skills and creative aspects. CGI have more scope of doing drawing works and 3d is like you have to give movements to puppet with help of software. Computer sitting is must so before changing your stream think carefully. You have to work more harder in it.
